Must one turn into a frumpy forty? Why do women stop taking care of their appearance after a certain age? Especially why do they put on so much weight? Of course, most of it could be hormonal or a result of depression. Well, whatever the reason may be, there is help on the way right here. Dressing to make you look slimmer! Just follow these simple rules and you can stand tall once again.
Avoid bold prints
Yes, stripes make one look slimmer but large stripes will not make you look thinner, only bigger. Tiger prints, large flowers and bright shades will make you stand out like a large colourful tent. Pastel and light shades, small prints are the way to go. It is best to mix and match, instead of coordinating your clothes from head to toe. A mix of plain and print looks more chic.
Puffs and Frills
Puff sleeves look good on school girls and are best left to them. Same goes with the frills. A puffy sleeve on a puffy arm? Not cute for sure! Frills at the neck would only draw attention to a part best hidden. If you really want something fancy, how about piping? Chic and smart!
Simple Shoe Simon
If you are on the heavier side and this is aimed at those for whom stillletoes and straps should be a thing of the past. The fact that you may be simply murdering your back, you could also be torturing yourself for something that does not give the desired results. For instead of looking hot or cool, you end up looking funny. Bright colours and strappy sandals are also best left alone if you do not want to draw attention to large ankles.
Embellishments
Appliqué, embroidery, rhinestones and ribbons, if your love for these has not diminished, then see to it that it is only in the detailing. Try self coloured embroidery if you absolutely love it. Appliqué only at the edges, and rhinestones best left alone. Anything too fancy and bright looks good on teens but would only end up looking garish at this age.
Wild Combinations
Fashionistas could be going wild mixing and matching wild combinations, but don’t get carried away by this latest in fashion. Bright colours can make one look larger or shorter or stouter. It only adds to our woes. If you must have something bright, then coordinate it with a neutral colour or try and find something that has a wee bit of white in it so that you could team it with white.

The idea is not to look like a teenager, but youthful in a chic and hip way. You need to feel comfortable without being frumpy. No person can be happy knowing that they are being judged. It isn’t going so well lately – surprise, surprise. Apparently her affair with Balthazar has damaged more than just her reputation. Sienna’s latest film project Hippie Hippie Shake has reportedly been postponed because of the situation, and won’t be released until next spring at the earliest.
Sienna is now so worried about the damage that’s been done to her career, sources are claiming she’s asked Balthazar’s wife, Rosetta, to speak up and dispel rumours that she broke up the couple’s eight year marriage. A source revealed:
“Sienna is being portrayed as a femme fatale and fears for her career because Hollywood hates a home wrecker. She hopes Balthazar can get Rosetta to put out a statement saying their marriage was already over. They have already got friends to speak out, saying he was sleeping on their sofas.”
Unsurprisingly Rosetta isn’t interested in helping out:
“It’s nonsense that the marriage was already over.” The source explained. “When Balthazar went away in May, Rosetta thought it was to see his sick mum in Germany. But she now knows that it was to cavort with Sienna in Prague.”
Oh Sienna, when will you learn – people just don’t want to see you act, it’s got nothing to do with you personal life, just your professional abilities. No offence…

Well durhh, you don’t have to be a drug expert to know that much. In an interview, Beaver spoke about the incident in which she was reportedly resuscitated by a team of paramedics, dismissing it as merely “something people go through in their lives, especially growing up in London.”
Beaver went on to say that the parallels being made between her and her mum Paula, who died of a heroin overdose, simply aren’t true.
“If she died in a car crash, does it mean I’d have to run out in front of a car and it’d be history repeating itself?”
hmmm, slightly dodgy comparison Beaver, but whatever helps you sleep at night.
